Pine Tree ISD To Host ET School Bus Safety Competition

On March 24, 2018, the Pine Tree Independent School District in collaboration with the East Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (ETAPT), will host the East Texas School Bus Driver Safety Competition also known as the School Bus ROAD-E-O. This event will take place at Pirate Stadium and is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM

This is one of the most exciting events in our industry, with the best of the best school bus drivers from around East Texas, coming together to compete for top honors and recognition in the Region. This event allows professional school bus drivers the opportunity to show pride while exhibiting their skills and dedication to pupil transportation.

The event begins with a General Knowledge and Vehicle Inspection written test designed to challenge the contestant’s comprehension of School Bus Driver State Certification Requirements and State Law applicable to a Commercial Driver. Contestants perform behind the wheel to demonstrate their personal ability to maneuver a full size school bus in and around various driving obstacle courses where mere inches make a huge difference in the contestants score. Each event is either timed and/or measured to determine their score. To receive the maximum amount of points per event, drivers spend many non-compensated hours to reach a superior level of competency and excellence in their personal ability to safely operate a school bus.

The community is invited to attend.
