Pine Tree Junior High Raises Over $300 to Benefit American Heart Association in Dodgeball Tournament

Pine Tree Junior High raised over $300 to benefit the American Heart Association in its 1st Annual PTJH Student vs. Faculty Dodgeball Tournament on February 16.

Students raised $322 and had 100 students participate in the tournament on ten different teams. Twenty PTJH  teachers played on two different teams as well as other teachers who helped sell/collect tickets, referee and manage the games.

The final game came down to the teacher team "Snoop Dodgy Dodge" and the student team "Booty O's." However, the other teacher team "Pawn Shop Ballers" joined in the fun and it was 20 teachers against 10 students. In the end it came down to one student, D.J. Freeman against one teacher, Loree Tatum. D.J. won the game for the students.

Everyone had a blast and we can't wait to have another tournament again next year!

The mission of VASE is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve. VASE is the only art event of its kind in the nation. Students are provided the opportunity to bring artworks created in their art classes to their regional event where they are interviewed by a certified juror who evaluates their work based on a standard based rubric and their understanding of the art processes involved in the development of their artwork. A very select group of students continue on to the State Event, where students have the opportunity to win scholarships based on works they create on-site. Scholarships usually range from $100 to $1,000. Teachers are Wayne Gaddis, Elizabeth White and Mary Graham (department head).
