Pine Tree ISD is proud to announce the district’s new theatre teacher Lisa Wright. Mrs. Wright comes to Pine Tree ISD with 16 years of teaching experience in theatre, English, speech and finance. She has 35 years of performance and director experience in high school, college, community and musical theatre. Mrs. Wright is married and has two children, Chloe and Timmy.
“Four years ago, my husband and I attended the premier Texas Shakespeare Festival Bard and Breakfast Theatre Educator Workshop in Kilgore under the direction of Meghan and Matthew Simpson and discovered for the first time that Texas had trees!! The superior quality and family spirit at TSF is reminiscent of my summers at Ashland Shakespeare Festival in Oregon, and we decided right there we'd try to move to the area.
My daughter graduated high school this year and will be attending East Texas Baptist University to study music. My family and I jumped at the chance to become a Pine Tree Pirate when a theatre position came open this year. I'm so excited to become a part of the fine arts family at PTISD! My son will be a part of the Pine Tree High School Marching Band.”
Aaron Turner has been named Director of Bands for the district. Mr. Turner has been the Assistant Director of Bands since 2014 and has worked closely with Mr. Mark Melton, who continues as Pine Tree’s Director of Fine Arts, Jazz Band Director, and beginning trumpet teacher, as well as serving as the UIL Region IV Music Secretary.
Mr. Turner’s bands have consistently earned superior/sweepstakes ratings in UIL contest performances. As Director of Bands, he will lead the 200 plus member PT Pride Marching Band and be the conductor of both the Wind Ensemble and the Concert Bands at Pine Tree High School. Additionally, Mr. Turner is a brass specialist and teaches AP Music Theory, Applied Music, and beginning brass at Pine Tree Middle School.
He is also an active pianist and accompanist in the Longview area. Previously, he taught on the band staff at Kingwood High School in Humble ISD and worked for over 20 years in church music with both choral and orchestral programs. He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in music/specialization in euphonium and piano. Principal mentors were Mr. John L. Whitwell, Dr. Charles Gavin, and Dr. Andrew Parr.
