Pine Tree High School Students Win 4 Gold Medals at State Art Event

Pine Tree High School students won four gold medal at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) held at James Madison High School in San Antonio this past Saturday, April 29th:
  • Isaiah Perry, junior
  • Abigail Roberts, sophomore
  • Harleigh Wright, sophomore
  • Petra Enloe, junior
Artwork from 3 other Pine Tree Students was also in attendance: Sidney Andrade, Michalon Daniels, and Gaelynn Prosser.

VASE is the largest and most respected art competition not only in Texas, but in the nation. The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) has sponsored the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) since 1994. VASE is the only art event of its kind in the nation. Students are provided the opportunity to bring artworks created in their art classes to their regional event where they are interviewed by a certified juror who evaluates their work based on a standard based rubric and their understanding of the art processes involved in the development of their artwork. Top artworks advance to the state level.

At the state event, students had the opportunity to take art classes, view winning student artwork on exhibit, visit with college recruiters and tour local area museums. The three Pine Tree teachers in attendance were Mary Graham, Wayne Gaddis and Elizabeth White.
