Pine Tree ISD in partnership with LeTourneau University's Society of Women Engineers will host Women in Engineering Night April 28 from 4- 7 p.m. at Pine Tree ISD's Junior High Cafeteria.
This event is open to Pine Tree Junior High and High School students. As participants, attendees will work with mentors from LETU in five different engineering stations covering five major schools of engineering.
Civil Engineering - "Seismic Shake-up" - Students will create structures and test them using a seismic testing table to see whose will stand the longest.
Mechanical Engineering - "Spacecraft Landing" - Design a spacecraft to provide a safe landing for the astronauts!
Biomedical Engineering - "A Leg to Stand On" - Come and create a prosthetic leg!
Electrical Engineering - "Laser Tunes" - Use mirrors and laser-light to complete a circuit and play your favorite music!
Computer Science/Computer Engineering - "My Robot Friend" - Together with your team, program a robot to build a structure!
The goal of this event is to promote awareness of various fields of engineering, which is an excellent career option open for brilliant female workers.
