Pine Tree High School Choir Students Advance to All-State Competition

Four Pine Tree High School choir students earned recognition at pre-area competition on November 29 and will advance to all-state choir auditions on January 7th.

Pine Tree Fishing Club Makes Great Showing at Lake Fork Tournament

Pine Tree made a GREAT showing at the Lake Fork Tournament on November 19.
There were 119 teams participating in the tournament.

Pine Tree Art Students Named to Longview Museum of Fine Arts Student Board

Roshni Edalur and Shreya Patel, AP 3rd year design students at Pine Tree High School, have been chosen to serve on the Longview Museum of Fine Arts student board.

Edalur and Patel will assist the museum in hanging shows, fundraisers and community activities.

PTHS Cheerleaders Host Polar Express Parents Night Out

The Pine Tree High School Cheerleaders will host The Polar Express Parents Night Out Saturday, December 3 from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at the Pine Tree High School Gym.  The cost to attend is $20 per child.

All attendees must complete a registration form and bring it with you the night of the event.  Children may wear pajamas and will receive a silver ball.  The event will include crafts and hot cocoa.

It's All Green at GREEN Machines Parade at PTISD

Pine Tree ISD along with Keep Longview Beautiful and the City of Longview will host a GREEN Machines Parade on Friday, December 2 at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot located behind the old Pirate Stadium.

Students from Birch Elementary and Parkway Elementary will have the opportunity to learn all about the trucks that will be included in the Green Machines Parade:

Street Sweeper
Trash/Recycle Truck
Gap Vac Truck
Pot Hole Patch Truck
Bulky Item Truck

Students will learn the importance of recycling,how to be respectful of green spaces and to understand how to to be a good steward to our environment.


PTHS Choir Boosters Breakfast with Santa set for December 17

The Pine Tree High School Choir Boosters Breakfast with Santa is set for Saturday, December 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Tree Junior High Cafeteria.  The event will include breakfast, a visit from Santa, carols and arts and crafts.   Cost is $5.00 and may be paid at the door.

Pine Tree Culinary Arts Program Showcased at Campus Visit

The East Texas Chapter ProStart Culinary Program visited the Pine Tree High School Culinary Arts Program with a campus visit on November 18.

The Texas ProStart Program is a program of the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation.  
The Texas ProStart Program includes outstanding curriculum, teacher excellence, industry support, state-of-the-art facilities and student achievement.

Pine Tree ISD is one of seventeen school districts in the state who is recognized as a ProStart Program. Representatives from the East Texas Restaurant Association as well as PTISD district personnel enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the PTHS Culinary Arts students.

Pine Tree Middle School Participates in Turkey Trot 2016

Pine Tree Middle School students participated in the 2016 Turkey Trot on November 18.  

This year's winners include:

PIne Tree Twirlers Qualify for State

Pine Tree High School hosted the Region 4 UIL Twirling Solo and Ensemble competition on November 12.  Every performance entry from Pine Tree scored a superior rating.  The six participants from Pine Tree earned a total of 10 medals.

Pine Tree High School Band Students Earn Chairs in All-Region Orchestra

Pine Tree Band students auditioned for the Region IV/XXI All-Region Orchestra November 16 at Longview High Schoool.  This audition was for both Region IV and Region XXI and included all 5A and 6A schools in these regions which includes Texarkana, Tyler, Lindale, Lufkin, Nacogdoches and Longview areas.

The following students earned seats in the All-Region Orchestra:

Pine Tree PTA Officer Named to State Leadership Academy



Andy Burnfield, an active volunteer with the Pine Tree PTA, has been selected as a member of the Texas PTA Emerging Leaders Academy.

The Emerging Leaders Academy is an opportunity to identify and support dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds, equipping them with skills to become effective, successful leaders within PTA and throughout their communities.

The Emerging Leaders Academy is a four, one-day session program  which provides participants with proven strategies in outreach, communication, advocacy and family engagement.

The Class of 2017 consists of twelve leaders, all selected to attend each of the four ELA sessions.

Pine Tree Junior High Band Sets Record at TMEA Competition

On Saturday, November 12, 520 band students from all across East Texas met at Pine Tree HS for the Region IV TMEA Middle School Region Band auditions. Pine Tree Junior High Band did exceptionally well breaking several records.  Forty-three students were chosen for the region band which is a school record.

Pine Tree ISD Hosts Coffee with the Superintendent November 17


Pine Tree ISD will host Coffee with the Superintendent Thursday, November 17 13 at 7:45 a.m. at Pine Tree High School in the Bistro cafe.

Parents are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee with Superintendent TJ Farler.

Pine Tree ISD Selected as APCapstone Program - Only School in East Texas

Pine Tree ISD has been selected as a AP Capstone Program. The AP Capstone Program will be implemented in the 2017-2018 school year.

AP Capstone is an advanced diploma program that debuted in 2014 with the first AP Capstone diplomas being awarded to 2015 graduates. To earn the diploma, students take two required AP classes – AP Seminar and AP Research – along with four more AP classes of their choosing. Students must earn a 3 or higher on each exam to be awarded the diploma.

AP Capstone is the College Board Program that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges.

Two additional courses will be added at Pine Tree HS – AP Research and AP Seminar. These courses are designed to complement and enhance the discipline-specific student in other AP courses.

Students graduating under this new program at Pine Tree High School will receive an AP Capstone Diploma.

Pine Tree Soccer Alumni Qualify for NJCAA National Championship in Tyler


Three Pine Tree Soccer alumni, Juan Garcia, Allan Maceda & Adrian Martinez, who currently play soccer for Hill College, have qualified to play in the NJCAA National Championship scheduled for the week of November 14th at Tyler Junior College.

The entire Pine Tree soccer teams and community are extremely proud of their accomplishment.

Pine Tree ISD Honors Veterans at Share the Schools November 8

Pine Tree ISD will honor veterans at the annual Share the Schools event on November 8 starting at 9:00 a.m.

Veterans, Senior Citizens, Retired Educators, and Retired Pine Tree Employees in the community are invited to be our guests for Thanksgiving lunch and entertainment. This year's event will be held at the Pine Tree Junior High Cafetorium located at 2100 NW Loop 281.

Entertainment will be provided by the PTHS Jazz Band and the Parkway Elementary Jolly Roger Band. The delicious Thanksgiving lunch will be provided by the PTISD Child Nutrition Department.

Pine Tree ISD offers English for Adults Classes

Pine Tree ISD will offer English for Adults classes on Thursday evenings starting November 3.  Each class will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Pine Tree Primary campus volunteer workroom (next to the cafeteria).  

The classes will be November 10, 17, December 1, 8, 15, January 5, 12, 19, 26 and February 2 and 9.

There is no charge to participate.  For additional information contact the Department of Curriculum at 903-295-5000.




Pine Tree High School Wins 2nd Place in Super 1 Cash for My High School Competition

Pine Tree High School won 2nd place in the Gold Division of the Super 1 Cash for My High School competition and will receive $5,000.00.

Super 1 Corporate officials will present the winning check at the November 14 board meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Administration building.

Pine Tree ISD Accepting Gifted and Talented Nominations

Pine Tree ISD is accepting Gifted and Talented nominations for the 2016-2017 school year November 28-December 16.

An informational meeting for parents considering nominating their students for the GT program will be Tuesday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Pine Tree Community Center.  

Parents must complete the nomination form and return it to their child's campus office no later than Friday, December 16.  Nomination forms are available on the PTISD district website at http://www.ptisd.org/page/Programs.GT.

Pine Tree Golf Wins Team Championship in First Spooktacular 36 Competition

Pine Tree Golf won the Team Championship with a combined total of 1259 in the first Pine Tree Spooktacular 36 competition October 28 and 29. 

Longview took second place with 1353.  Texas High came in third with 1433. The Maxwell style format pitted 5 schools with a boys and girls team in the tournament. 

The Pine Tree girls won their division with a two day total of 648.  

Team members are Seniors Aubrey Zastoupil, Madison Randall, Cody Taylor, Daniel Moore, Aaron Joseph & Connor Terry - Juniors Kayley McMullen, Callie Lightfoot & Nick Rowan and Sophomore Kailey Quiett.

Pine Tree ISD Participates in District Wide Food Drive

Pine Tree ISD will participate in a district wide food drive starting November 1 benefiting the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission.

Donations may be dropped off at each of the district's campuses as well as Central Administration.

Food items may include canned vegetables, soup, canned meats, cereal, salad dressing, sugar, coffee, grits and baby food.

The drive will continue through November 15.

Pine Tree ISD Honors Veterans at Share the Schools November 8

Pine Tree ISD will honor veterans at the annual Share the Schools event on November 8 starting at 9:00 a.m.

Veterans, Senior Citizens, Retired Educators, and Retired Pine Tree Employees in the community are invited to be our guests for Thanksgiving lunch and entertainment. This year's event will be held at the Pine Tree Junior High Cafetorium located at 2100 NW Loop 281.

Entertainment will be provided by the PTHS Jazz Band and the Parkway Elementary Jolly Roger Band. The delicious Thanksgiving lunch will be provided by the PTISD Child Nutrition Department.
