PTHS Sophomore Michael Bonham Captures First Place in Region 7's Earth Day Contest

Michael Bonham, a sophomore at Pine Tree High School, captured first place in Region 7's Earth Day poster contest.  Bonham's winning photo was taken on the grounds of PTHS.

This year's competition had over 400 entries and 12 winners were chosen from K-12th grades.  Students were asked to create posters that exemplify how trees contribute to our environment.

April 22 is Earth Day and every year Americans and over 100 different countries join together in the celebration of Earth Day.  It is the largest most celebrated environmental event worldwide.  This year's theme was "Trees for the Earth."  Trees will be the first of five major goals earthday.org is undertaking in honor of the five year countdown to their 50th anniversary.
