During the week of April 20-24, PTISD kindergarteners will study about Texas. In addition to learning about the state bird, state song, and the state flower, students learn about the rich history and varied cultures of our lone star state. The week long unit culminates in a Texas-sized celebration on Friday, April 24 from 8:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. During Texas Day students will rotate through active learning centers and presentations.
Students will learn about the following activities during this celebration:
Chuck Wagon, Tattoos, Milk the Cow, Seed Spitting, Hen House. Panning for Gold, Branding, Jeans Race, Stick Horse race, Bean Bag Toss, Square Dance, Haystack Hunt, Wagon Race and Cotton Gin.
Texas Day presenters and exhibitors include David Campbell, Hen House; Greg Mabus, Cotton Gin and Julie Gillentine, Branding.
The Down Home Cloggers of Longview will perform in the afternoon.
