Pine Tree High School Hosts UIL Regional Competition

Pine Tree High School was honored to host the UIL Region IV Band Solo & Ensemble contest on February 7, 2014. Twenty-five schools were in attendance, with an estimated 800-900 students, directors, judges, and volunteers that assimilated on the High School Campus.

“This was a district-wide effort,” says Mark Melton, Director of Fine Arts, “We coordinated efforts with the UIL music department, the Band staff and boosters, the High School staff, band students, the Transportation department, and the Facilities Services department in order to pull this off," he said.  "It was a real team effort!"

Most of the rooms in the 800-900 halls and cafeteria in the high school were used to accommodate the contest.

“The feedback was entirely positive,” Melton said, “The directors were so pleased to be able to come to such a fabulous facility that had nice, wide hallways and plenty of room under one roof," he said.  "I believe they will want to come back.”

Pine Tree ISD had a record number of students qualifying in the competition and who earned the status of state contender for the State UIL Solo and Ensemble event in Austin in May.  Read more about Pine Tree High School awards.
