ET Swimming: Pine Tree’s Jones Qualifies for State

Pine Tree’s Jacob Jones took first place in the 200 and 500 freestyle on Saturday at the regional swim meet in Frisco to advance to the state meet Feb. 21 and 22 in Austin.

The winner of each event qualifies for state, and the UIL will select other top times from across the state.

Jones won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.54 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.07. Both of those times were personal bests for him and school records.  As a team, Pine Tree placed fourth on the boys’ side and fifth in the girls.

UPDATE: Pine Tree junior Jacob Jones recorded a fifth-place finish in the Class 4A boys 500-yard freestyle Saturday at the state swimming and diving championships at the University of Texas’ Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.  Jones’ time was 4:40.56, which was a personal best and a new school record.
