The Pirates Head Back to School: Get On Board



Pine Tree ISD Students Head Back to class Tuesday, August 27th

Ahoy mates! The Pine Tree Pirates will “get on board” soon for the 2013-2014 school year. Tuesday, Aug. 27th, which is the first day of school for students.


ALL STUDENT Registration August 5th and 6th

Plan to visit the PT High School cafeteria for registration, 9:00am - 7:00pm on August 5th and 6th. Click here for a flier. This event is for all students returning and new to the district (except transfers.)

Where: PT High School Campus, Cafeteria, 900 Northwest Drive, Longview, TX
When: Monday, August 5, 2013 and Tuesday, August 6, 2013  9:00 am – 7:00 pm each day.
Who: All parents/guardians of new & returning student Pre-K - 12th grade who plan to attend PTISD.

RETURNING STUDENTS 

Pine Tree students who finished the 2012-2013 school year at a Pine Tree campus:
A parent or legal guardian must register the student.
A picture identification of the parent / legal guardian must be shown.

One Proof of Residency must be presented at the time of registration. Students will not be allowed to register without this documentation. NOTE: Any of the following Proof of Residency Documents are accepted:
  • A current lease agreement with all residents of the address listed.
  • A current utility bill (electric, gas, water only) ….No cell phone or telephone bills will be accepted. The bill cannot be dated more than (30) days prior to the registration date.
  • A current year PTISD Property Tax Statement.


NEW STUDENTS

All students who did NOT finish the 2012-2013 school year at a Pine Tree campus must bring the following:
  • Parent/Guardian, Picture Identification and Residency (Same as above.)
  • Birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Most recent report card or transcripts
Pre-Kindergarten students have additional requirements. Pre-K families must also complete the Application for Free/Reduced Price Meals. Call 903-295-5000 for more information.  To view/print forms - click: English or Spanish.


EMPLOYEES

New Employees to the District attend Orientation on Friday, Aug.16 and Monday, Aug. 19th, in the Community Center at the Central Administration Building. Teachers return to work on Wednesday, August 21st for the Annual Convocation and preparation for the new year.

  • Viki Stark is the new Coordinator for Bilingual and English as a Second Language, and 
  • Dr. Quentin Woods will serve as the Coordinator for Gifted/Talented and other Special Programs.

Registration and Meet the Teacher

To prepare for the new school year, students are invited to meet their teachers, pick up schedules and tour the campuses on August 22-23, 2013.

PINE TREE High School (Grades 9-12)

Freshman Orientation for 9th graders is in the Pirate Center, Thursday, Aug. 22, 10:00am – 12:00 noon. The Pirate Center is the gymnasium located on 1005 W. Fairmont Street.

10th-12th grade students are invited to meet the teachers and pick up schedules at the high school also on Thursday, Aug. 22, 1:00-3:00pm.

ExCEL High School of Choice (Grades 9-12)

Meet Your Teacher event is set for 1:00-4:00pm on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Junior High (Grades 7-8)

Meet Your Teacher event is set for Thursday, Aug. 22. 7th Grade, 8:00 - 10:00am, and 8th Grade, 10:15am-12:15pm.

Middle School (Grades 5-6)

Meet Your Teacher event is set for Friday, Aug. 23. 
Sixth grade schedule pick up & Meet Your Teacher is 12:00-3:00pm. 
Fifth grade Meet Your Teacher - is 8:00-11:00am. 

Intermediate School (Grades 3-4)


Meet Your Teacher event is set for Thursday, Aug. 22, 3:00– 6:30pm.

Elementary School (Grades 1-2)

Primary School (Grades K & PK)

Age Requirements

To attend Kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Pre-kindergarten children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, and must qualify for free or reduced lunch or be from a non-English speaking home.

Pre-K applicants must present proof of income for all working members of the household. More information and forms are available online at www.ptisd.org.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

As a public school system, PTISD welcomes all students who live in the area and who meet the state age and health requirements. Pine Tree ISD began accepting transfer applications for the 2013-14 school year on April 15, 2013, and close the process for 7th-12th grade on July 31st.

Transfer requests may be submitted and approved each year and will be subject to space available. For more information about transfers, contact James Skeeler at PTISD.

  • PINE TREE Elementary (1-2): 8:25am – 3:40pm 
  • PINE TREE Intermediate (3-4): 8:25am – 3:40pm 
  • PINE TREE Middle (5-6): 7:45am – 3:05pm 
  • PINE TREE Junior High (7-8): 7:45am – 3:05pm 
  • PINE TREE High School (9-12): 7:45am – 3:00pm
  • PINE TREE ExCEL High School (9-12): 8:00am-12:00pm and 12:00-4:00pm

School Supply Lists:

School supply lists are available for Pre-K through 6th grade online at www.ptisd.org. Parents should preview the supply lists by grade level in order to be prepared for the first day of school.
Lists are available on the district web site, and also have been distributed to area businesses. High School and Junior High students will receive this information after the start of school.

Academic Calendar:

The Pine Tree ISD 2013-2014 school year calendar is available to print through www.ptisd.org.

After August 27th, students are welcome to visit the high school library before, during, and after school to read, study, or research. Access to a computer, Pine Tree High School library hours are: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00pm. Parents are also welcome to access computers before and after school hours.
